How to name your weed ?

So these are "Strains", and when high you probably strain to remember them.
But do the names of the strain have any meaning ? When I get some, I just name it after the vibes/trip I get.
My friends usually look at me wierd when I say: "Wanna go to my place and smoke Scruffy the crime dog ?" or something like that, and then I have to explain it to them, and then they usually want to come with me.

But thats not the point, why can't we just name our own weed when we buy it and smoke it and maybe someone will even understand what your talking about. Or just stick to Indica and Sativa.
